Massage and Pilates as methods for relieving neck and back tension
Neck and back tensions are common issues often caused by stress, poor posture from prolonged sitting, or sedentary lifestyles. Neck tension can stem from improper smartphone use, workplace ergonomics, or psychological stress, which causes muscles in the shoulder and neck area to contract.
Massage therapy is a recognized method for relief. Techniques such as classic massage, deep tissue massage, and trigger point massage can help loosen muscles, improve blood circulation, and activate lymphatic flow. Deep tissue massage is particularly effective for persistent tension, while trigger point massage targets specific painful knots that may cause secondary headaches or back pain.
For back pain, movement is often more beneficial than rest. Pilates is highlighted as an effective approach to strengthen core muscles, improve mobility, and enhance body awareness through controlled breathing and spinal mobilization. Strengthening the deep core muscles can help mitigate nonspecific back pain, especially in the lower back region.
