Massana residents protest Alt de la Capa viewpoint project

Between 250 and 300 people gathered in the Plaça del Quart de la Massana to protest the proposed scenic viewpoint project at Alt de la Capa. The demonstration was organized by the recently formed group ‘Salvem la Capa’, which mobilized a larger crowd than initially expected.

Protesters expressed concerns regarding the environmental and landscape impact of the construction at an altitude of over 2,500 meters. The group’s manifesto demands that the Comú halt the execution of the project, citing insufficient debate and a lack of evaluation regarding alternatives. They are calling for a transparent citizen participation process to allow residents to influence decisions affecting their natural environment.

Participants used slogans such as ‘Less cement, more life’ and ‘Our peaks do not need hats’ to voice their opposition to the infrastructure. Several political figures, including members of the minority council and representatives from Concòrdia and the Social Democrats, were present at the protest.
