Napoli faces injury crisis with ten players sidelined

SSC Napoli is facing a significant injury crisis following the international break, with the number of unavailable players rising to ten. The squad has suffered multiple setbacks during Nations League and international duties.

Uruguayan defender Mathias Olivera sustained a muscle injury to his right external obturator muscle while on international duty, which is expected to sideline him for approximately one month. This loss, alongside an existing injury to Costantino Favasuli, has left manager Massimiliano Allegri with a critical shortage of available full-backs. Leonardo Spinazzola is currently the only specialist left-back nearing a return.

Additionally, young talent Antonio Vergara suffered a medium-grade soleus injury during an Italy vs. Turkey match, resulting in an estimated four-week absence. Other players currently sidelined or recovering include Frank Anguissa, Alex Meret, Luca Marianucci, and Scott McTominay, who is awaiting medical clearance following surgery for a benign arrhythmia.

In response to the situation, club president Aurelio De Laurentiis held a meeting with Allegri at the Castel Volturno training center to discuss tactical adjustments and the team's current form. Allegri is reportedly considering various solutions, including utilizing center-back Badiashile in a defensive role to cover the flanks.
