Massimiliano Bernardi receives six-month doping suspension
Massimiliano Bernardi, a player for La Fiorita Futsal, has received a six-month suspension following an anti-doping violation. The decision was made by the San Marino National Anti-Doping Organization (NADO) after a test conducted during a match against Virtus Acquaviva.
Laboratory analysis in Rome revealed a concentration of cathine at 6.27 μg/ml, which exceeds the 6 μg/ml limit established by the 2026 WADA Prohibited List. Bernardi reported at the time of the test that he had taken medication for influenza, including Momentxsin, which contains pseudoephedrine.
The NADO Results Management Authority acknowledged that the ingestion was involuntary and not intended to enhance athletic performance. However, the athlete was sanctioned due to negligence regarding the substance's presence in his system.
