Massimo Bossetti defense rejected in Yara Gambirasio case appeal

The defense for Massimo Bossetti, who is serving a life sentence for the murder of Yara Gambirasio, has had a recent appeal rejected by the Court of Cassation. Lawyers Claudio Salvagni and Paolo Camporini submitted a seventy-page appeal requesting new examinations of existing biological samples and documentation, but judges ruled the arguments were not sufficiently specific or new.

The defense continues to challenge the validity of the evidence used in the conviction, specifically citing anomalies regarding trace 31G20—blood found on the victim's clothing used to identify the DNA profile of 'Ignoto 1' as Bossetti. Legal representatives argue that tests have not conclusively proven the profile originated from that specific trace.

Other points of contention raised by the defense include a chronological inconsistency regarding a clothing fragment that was allegedly consumed during examination, making subsequent photography impossible. They also highlighted the presence of 54 test tubes containing biological material attributed to 'Ignoto 1' and a hair sample that was reportedly not described in the medico-legal documentation.
