Massimo Bottura and Lara Gilmore Receive First Avolta Legend Award
Avolta launched the inaugural “Legend Award,” an international prize honoring individuals whose ideas and actions reshape established systems and create lasting discontinuity. The first award was presented in Milan at the Sagrestia del Bramante to chef Massimo Bottura, three‑star Michelin holder and founder of the Francescana Family, and social‑entrepreneur Lara Gilmore. They were recognized for the impact of Food for Soul’s “Refettori,” venues that transform food that would otherwise be wasted into nutritious meals for people in vulnerable situations. The Refettori network now operates in 12 locations across Europe, North and South America, and Oceania, with further expansions planned.
The award was handed over by Avolta honorary president Alessandro Benetton, president Juan Carlos Torres, and CEO Xavier Rossinyol. Rossinyol said, “Through Food for Soul and the Refettori, they have shown that innovation can restore dignity, create bonds and drive profound social change.” Benetton added that the initiative turns waste into “beauty, dignity, community.”
