Massimo De Lutiis becomes 1,000th Wallaby capped for Australia

Massimo De Lutiis became the 1,000th player to be capped for the Australian Wallabies during a match against Japan in Townsville. The 22-year-old prop marked the historic milestone by scoring a try during his debut appearance.

Australia secured a 56-17 victory over Japan, completing a sweep of the two-test rugby series. The win marks a three-match winning streak for the Wallabies under new head coach Les Kiss.

To commemorate the occasion, Rugby Australia presented De Lutiis with the original 1899 red and blue cap belonging to Patrick Carew, the first Wallaby. Descendants of Carew were present in the sheds to witness the presentation.
