Massimo Wertmüller to perform classical epics at Italian festivals

Actor Massimo Wertmüller is featured in two upcoming theatrical performances in Italy as part of regional festivals.

At the Taras Teatro Festival in Taranto, Wertmüller and Anna Ferruzzo will perform a reading of Alessandro Baricco’s adaptation of the ‘Iliad’ on September 20. The production focuses on the human elements of the Trojan War, centering on the perspectives of six characters including Priam, Helen, and Andromache.

Separately, the Traetta Opera Festival in Bitonto inaugurates its season on September 19 with ‘La caduta di Troia’. In this production, Wertmüller performs a reading from Book II of Virgil’s ‘Aeneid’, directed by Sergio Maifredi. The performance integrates the music of composer Tommaso Traetta, linking classical epic literature with Mediterranean musical traditions.
