MAST team successfully launches Mirage rocket at EuRoC

The Minho Aerospace Students’ Team (MAST) from the University of Minho successfully launched and recovered its ‘Mirage’ rocket during its debut at the European Rocketry Challenge (EuRoC). Held at the Santa Margarida Military Camp in Constância, the competition is organized by the Portuguese Space Agency.

Competing in the newly established ‘Rookie’ category designed for less experienced teams, MAST became the first Portuguese team to achieve a successful launch and recovery on its first attempt at EuRoC. The rocket exceeded its target altitude of 3,000 meters.

By the third day of operations, the competition had recorded ten total launches. Within the Rookie category, MAST and the Greek team White Noise both successfully met their flight objectives and recovered their vehicles, while the Italian team StarPi failed to deploy its parachute. The jury is currently evaluating the technical data from the missions.
