Master P addresses remarks on slavery and calls for Black ownership

Entrepreneur and rapper Master P has addressed recent controversies regarding his comments on slavery and Black ownership. Following criticism of an interview where he suggested Black Americans should not focus excessively on slavery to avoid a ‘negative mindset,’ he clarified that his intent was to encourage a focus on bridging the racial wealth gap and improving the future rather than dwelling on the past.

Master P also recently advocated for increased Black ownership and economic empowerment following reports that Louisiana State University (LSU) might close its African American Cultural Center. While LSU clarified that the Clarence L. Barney Jr. African American Cultural Center remains open despite staff reductions, Master P used the situation to emphasize the necessity of community ownership and economic solutions to protect cultural institutions.
