Mastercard and Busha partner to expand digital asset transfers in Nigeria

Mastercard has partnered with Busha, a pan-African digital asset exchange, to implement Mastercard Crypto Credential in Nigeria. This partnership allows eligible Busha users to utilize a unique Crypto Credential alias, which replaces long blockchain addresses with simplified identifiers such as email addresses or phone numbers.

The solution is designed to increase trust and ease of use in digital asset transfers by connecting users to endpoints that meet Mastercard verification standards. The system confirms that a recipient can receive a specific digital asset on the intended blockchain before a transaction is finalized, aiming to reduce failed or misdirected transfers.
