Mastercard Foundation announces scholarships for African students

The Mastercard Foundation is offering fully funded scholarship opportunities for students from Sub-Saharan Africa through partnerships with the University of Edinburgh and the University of Toronto.

The University of Edinburgh is providing online postgraduate scholarships for eligible students to pursue part-time Master’s programmes over three years or postgraduate diploma programmes over two years. The funding covers tuition fees and provides an academic stipend for a laptop and internet access. Applicants must be citizens or residents of a Sub-Saharan African country and aged 35 or younger by September 1, 2027.

At the University of Toronto, the Mastercard Foundation is offering Doctor of Public Health scholarships for the 2027/2028 academic year. These scholarships are available to alumni and graduating students from Africa Health Collaborative partner universities. The program covers tuition, travel, housing, food, and books. Recipients are expected to demonstrate academic excellence and a commitment to returning to their home countries to contribute to social and economic development.
