Somer Sivrioğlu's Sydney restaurant placed under administration

Anason, a restaurant in Sydney, Australia, operated by celebrity chef and MasterChef Türkiye judge Somer Sivrioğlu, has been placed under external administration due to significant tax debts. The business reportedly owes approximately 2.06 million Australian dollars to the Australian Taxation Office (ATO), which is equivalent to roughly 72.4 million Turkish Lira.

Sivrioğlu stated that the business has faced severe financial pressure for approximately five years. He explained that while the restaurant remains successful in its operations, they were unable to meet rapidly accumulating tax obligations. Sivrioğlu noted that an initial application for a small business debt restructuring program was rejected, and a subsequent request for a 30-month repayment plan has remained unanswered for over four months.

Despite the appointment of an administrator, the restaurant remains open to the public. Sivrioğlu emphasized that the debt is owed solely to the ATO and asserted that the business has no outstanding debts to employees, suppliers, or other creditors.
