Masters of the Universe film draws rave early reviews

The live‑action "Masters of the Universe" premiered worldwide on 5 June, with critics in the United States and elsewhere calling it a surprise hit. Reviewers highlighted Nicholas Galitzine’s comic timing as Prince Adam/He‑Man, Jared Leto’s campy turn as Skeletor, and the film’s vibrant 1980s vibe, drawing comparisons to Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy.

Director Travis Knight’s handling of the Mattel franchise was praised, as was Daniel Pemberton’s rock‑infused soundtrack. Several critics noted the movie’s nostalgic charm, its energetic humor, and its ability to capture the spirit of the original cartoons while delivering nonstop fun.

Actor Galitzine also disclosed his intense preparation, eating up to 5,000 calories a day and training three‑hour sessions to achieve He‑Man’s muscular physique, a detail that generated additional media interest as the cast promoted the film internationally.
