Macedonian opposition SDSM launches anti‑corruption “Front for Truth and Justice”

Social Democratic Union of Macedonia (SDSM) leader Dr Venko Filipče announced the creation of a “Front for Truth and Justice”. He said the front will be built on four pillars – zero tolerance for corruption and European justice, a future for youth, a dignified life for all and strong villages and farmers. The flagship law will introduce a “zero‑tolerance” anti‑corruption framework, establish a fully independent anti‑corruption directorate modeled on Romania’s DNA system, digitise all public procurement and tender processes following the Estonian model, and make electronic asset declarations mandatory for every public official. Whistle‑blowers will receive 5‑15 % of recovered funds and be granted anonymity and job protection, while a public blacklist will bar convicted individuals from public office. Filipče highlighted an existing cooperation agreement with the European Public Prosecutor’s Office (signed in 2022) that will be fully activated, allowing EU prosecutors to investigate high‑level corruption cases in Macedonia.

In a parallel statement, Filipče accused a regional political‑financial network that links Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić and Macedonian Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski, calling them “Russian puppets” and vowing to expose the connections. He pledged that “nothing will stay under the carpet” as his party pursues transparency and accountability.

The opposition plans to formalise the front at its congress on 7 June and to push the anti‑corruption law as the first act of any future SDSM‑led government.
