Mastodon visits Amoeba Music to discuss new album

The heavy metal band Mastodon recently appeared in an episode of Amoeba Music’s “What’s In My Bag?” series at the Hollywood record store. Band members Bill Kelliher, Troy Sanders, Brann Dailor, and Brent Hinds explored the shop’s collections, sharing musical influences ranging from Black Sabbath and Ozzy Osbourne to Clutch and Men At Work.

The appearance coincides with the release of the band’s ninth album, “Marrow Deep,” issued via Loma Vista Recordings on August 28. The band also released a new single and music video titled “In The Ruins,” which was inspired by the devastating impact of Hurricane Helene on Troy Sanders and his family, as well as recent personal losses within the band.
