Mat Mesarchik launches first Northern Ohio Mountain Bike Series race at Mohican State Park

The Northern Ohio Mountain Bike Series (NOMBS) held its inaugural race at Mohican State Park on June 14. Series director Mat Mesarchik, who founded NOMBS in 2023, said the event brought USA Cycling‑sanctioned competition back to Ohio.

The race used the previously unraced "Lodge Trails" after a partnership with Mohican Lodge, whose staff helped run the event and an after‑party. Volunteers from the Mohican‑Malabar Bike Club, led by Drew Purcel, marked the course and staffed intersections. The race concluded on the lodge patio where participants could order food and drinks while awards were presented.
