Mat shooting: Police find stolen car and rifles after attack on parked vehicle

On the night of September 12, unidentified individuals opened fire on a parked Audi in the village of Urakë, within the Rukaj Administrative Unit of Mat Municipality. The vehicle, owned by a local resident, sustained material damage, but no injuries or victims were reported.

Following the shooting, police established checkpoints and discovered a burnt Volkswagen Golf V approximately two kilometers away on the Rrëshen–Burrel road. Investigators found two partially burned Kalashnikov assault rifles inside the vehicle. The Golf V had been reported stolen from Përrenjas by its owner on July 31, 2025.

Authorities are currently conducting searches in the surrounding areas and are collaborating with police directorates in Tirana, Lezhë, and Kukës to identify and apprehend the perpetrators. The investigation is being conducted under the direction of the Prosecutor's Office.
