Tripura and Assam announce major urban and employment policy updates
In Tripura, Chief Minister Manik Saha has announced a master plan to modernize urban local bodies and civic infrastructure across the state. This initiative aims to expand the development seen in the Agartala Smart City Mission to all Nagar Panchayat and Municipal Council areas. Recent projects include the inauguration of a new ward office in Pratapgarh and the renovation of a historic pond near Ujan Abhoynagar Market under the AMRUT 2.0 scheme. Additionally, developmental works are planned for the Mata Tripura Sundari Temple in Udaipur to prepare for the upcoming Diwali Mela.
In Assam, the state cabinet, led by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, has approved a 12 per cent reservation for Agniveers in various uniformed services. This reservation applies to permanent residents of Assam serving under the Agnipath scheme and covers constable-level positions in the Assam Police, Commando Battalions, Jail, Fire Services, State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), Forest Guards, and the Excise Department.
