Matadi state agents face salary suspension and strike threats

Over 1,000 state agents and civil servants in Matadi, the provincial capital of Kongo-Central, have not received their base salaries or third-quarter bonuses. The disruption is reportedly linked to a technical operation initiated in Kinshasa to integrate supplementary pay into ordinary payroll, a process that has caused significant disturbances in the banking distribution chain.

The national union for cadres and employees (SYNCASS) has reported that workers are facing logistical impasses between banking institutions. Specifically, employees reported being told by Access Bank that they had been transferred to Rawbank, while Rawbank management claimed they had received no official reports to justify these payments.

In response to the unpaid wages, SYNCASS has threatened to launch a general strike to paralyze the provincial administration by the end of the month. The union is calling for immediate intervention from the Prime Minister and the ministries of Budget, Finance, and Civil Service to resolve the crisis.
