Matalan reports strong digital growth following new mobile app launch

UK retailer Matalan has reported strong early performance following the launch of its first fully native mobile app, developed in partnership with mobile specialist Apadmi. Since its August launch, the app has recorded 1.76 million downloads, with monthly active users increasing by 10% month-on-month.

Key performance metrics indicate significant digital growth, with app orders increasing 20% year-on-year in August and 28% in September. The app’s conversion rate has reached 4.4%, exceeding the company’s 3.4% target, and the average order value is 14% higher than on the retailer’s website.

The app features intelligent search, streamlined checkout via Apple Pay and Google Pay, and integrated Matalan Me rewards. To bridge the gap between digital and physical retail, the app includes an in-store barcode scanning feature that allows customers to check product details, availability, and reviews using their mobile devices.
