Matamoros launches urban paving and sports facility projects

The Matamoros municipal government, led by Mayor Beto Granados, has launched several infrastructure projects aimed at improving urban mobility and community spaces.

In the Ampliación Solidaridad neighborhood, paving works have commenced on Río Misisipi and Río de la Plata streets. Funded by the Banobras-FAIS 2026 program, the project covers over 1,200 square meters and includes the construction of bases, curbs, sidewalks, and asphalt, benefiting approximately 150 residents. Additionally, the mayor announced that construction of a new roof for the Ernesto Guajardo Salinas elementary school will begin next week to protect students from high temperatures.

Simultaneously, the administration has started a comprehensive rehabilitation of the Canchas del Cambio sports complex in the Treviño Zapata neighborhood. This project involves renovating 7,604 square meters of basketball, volleyball, tennis, and fronton courts. The works include surface preparation, non-slip painting, equipment repair, and perimeter fencing, with the goal of benefiting roughly 9,000 local residents.
