Matamoros Mayor announces road expansion and coastal conservation efforts

Matamoros Mayor Alberto Granados Fávila announced the approval of a new infrastructure project to construct a second body for Avenida 12 de Marzo. The project, which will span from Avenida Constituyentes to the Los Palmares subdivision, will be funded by the Tamaulipas state government. Granados noted that this initiative fulfills campaign promises regarding urban mobility and connectivity.

In environmental efforts, the Mayor led the second “Guardianes del Mar” cleaning day at Playa Bagdad. The initiative involved local authorities, civil society, and volunteers to preserve the coastal ecosystem and protect the habitat of the endangered loggerhead sea turtle (tortuga lora). The program aims to promote environmental awareness among residents and tourists to safeguard the region's biodiversity.
