Matamoros mayor Beto Granados launches weekend cultural and health program

The municipal government of Matamoros, led by Mayor Beto Granados, announced a weekend agenda of free cultural and health activities for Sunday, August 2 and Monday, August 3. On Sunday the Expo Militar remained open at the Parque Olímpico, featuring a folkloric ballet, a performance by the SEDENA mariachi, a canine‑training show and the Mercadito Puerta México where local entrepreneurs sold products. Monday’s program focused on health and prevention, with a vision‑screening brigade offering free glasses, a zoonosis module providing pet‑care advice, permanent anti‑dengue fumigation, and junk‑removal drives in several neighborhoods.

In addition, the city continued its Matamoros Verde campaign with a reforestation and cleaning event in the Fraccionamiento Canadá, where volunteers planted trees and residents received free veterinary services such as rabies vaccination, antiparasitic treatment and nail trimming for their pets. The combined initiatives aim to improve public spaces, promote community health and encourage civic participation.
