Matamoros Mayor Beto Granados Launches Low‑Cost Mobile Market Program

Mayor Beto Granados of Matamoros, Tamaulipas, together with Anita Granados, president of the local DIF system, inaugurated the "Mercadito Móvil a Bajo Costo" in the Sección 16 neighborhood. The mobile market aims to bring basic food items—such as banana, watermelon, tomato, eggs, onion, carrot and broccoli—directly to residents at prices below market rates. The program targets seniors, people with disabilities and families who have difficulty traveling to other parts of the city.

Granados noted that the initiative revives a scheme he created while serving as Secretary of Social Welfare and pledged to expand it to additional neighborhoods. Community member Patricia Duque thanked the municipal government and DIF for delivering the service directly to the colonists. Authorities plan further mobile market rounds across Matamoros to support household economies and improve nutrition.
