Matamoros Mayor launches infrastructure works and firefighter memorial

Mayor Alberto Granados Fávila of Matamoros, Tamaulipas, has initiated several public works and community programs. In the Vista del Sol neighborhood, the municipal government began paving projects on Nevado de Toluca Avenue and several access streets, including Tíbet, Nepal, and Chipre. Additionally, rehabilitation work has commenced on the sanitary drainage system of Costa de Oro street.

In a separate community effort, Mayor Granados and Anita de Granados, president of DIF Matamoros, conducted a service brigade in the El Ebanito settlement. The initiative provided medical and dental consultations, legal advice, and the distribution of school supplies, eyeglasses, and food pantries to local residents.

To honor local emergency services, the city inaugurated the ‘Héroes de Matamoros’ wall and unveiled a monument dedicated to the Heroico Cuerpo de Bomberos. The memorial honors four firefighters who died in the line of duty: Osvaldo Xavier Cedillo López, Ángel Gustavo Acuña Hernández, Carlos Emmanuel Hernández Che, and Julio Adrian Gauzin Sánchez. The administration also announced salary increases and an extraordinary bonus for firefighters to recognize their service.
