Matamoros Mayor leads UN anniversary ceremony and urban cleanup

Matamoros Mayor José Alberto “Beto” Granados Fávila led a civic ceremony at Naciones Unidas Elementary School to commemorate the 81st anniversary of the United Nations. The event featured student presentations and flag exhibitions aimed at promoting peace, unity, and international cooperation.

During the event, the Mayor highlighted his administration's commitment to education, noting recent maintenance work at the school, including painting and landscaping. He emphasized aligning local actions with the policies of Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo and Tamaulipas Governor Américo Villarreal Anaya.

In a separate urban initiative, the municipal government reported the removal of more than 3,500 irregular advertisements from utility poles and public infrastructure across several major avenues in Matamoros. The campaign, titled “Matamoros se ve mejor sin contaminación visual,” aims to reduce visual pollution and recover public spaces.
