Matamoros water board approves discounts and tariff adjustments

The Junta de Aguas y Drenaje (JAD) in Matamoros has approved new promotions and tariff changes aimed at supporting local households and small businesses. Domestic users with fixed rates who remain current on payments can receive free months of service: in November, users can pay for 10 months to receive two free, while in December and January, the promotion offers one free month with the payment of 11 months.

These benefits also extend to pensioners and retirees who meet program requirements. Additionally, following a proposal from Governor Américo Villarreal Anaya, the JAD will transition the water tariff for masa and tortilla businesses from an industrial rate to a commercial rate. This adjustment is intended to lower operating costs for these vendors, helping to keep the price of these staple foods accessible for consumers.
