Matanzas to host 66th anniversary of Cuba's CDR

The province of Matanzas will host the central celebrations for the 66th anniversary of the Committees for the Defense of the Revolution (CDR). During the anniversary period, Matanzas was awarded the title of ‘Vanguardia Nacional’ for its performance in implementing the ‘Mi Barrio por la Patria’ movement and other community tasks.

In addition to the provincial recognition, the municipality of Matanzas was named the best provincial capital municipality in the country. Other provinces, including Pinar del Río and Santiago de Cuba, were also recognized for their outstanding results. Six specific municipalities—La Palma, Arroyo Naranjo, Matanzas, Rodas, Majibacoa, and Yateras—achieved the national vanguard status.

National coordinator Gerardo Hernández Nordelo announced that 35 ‘Premios del Barrio’ will be awarded to individuals, families, and businesses contributing to community development. The anniversary campaign includes activities such as blood donations, raw material collection, energy saving, and the ‘Cultiva tu Pedacito’ program. The organization also highlighted efforts to integrate youth into leadership roles and the distribution of medical donations to the ‘Farma Joven’ project.
