Mataró launches heritage initiative featuring five landmark sites
The city of Mataró has launched ‘Mataró cinco estrellas’ (Mataró Five Stars), a new initiative designed to promote and highlight five of its most significant heritage sites. All five locations are recognized as Bienes Culturales de Interés Nacional (National Cultural Heritage Sites).
The featured sites include La Nau Gaudí, La Presó (the prison), the Roman villa of Torre Llauder, the Basilica of Santa Maria and Conjunt dels Dolors, and Casa Coll i Regàs. Together, these landmarks represent approximately two thousand years of history, spanning from Roman origins to contemporary architecture.
A program of activities will take place over nine Saturdays from October 3 to November 28. The schedule includes guided tours, workshops, exhibitions, concerts, and lectures focused on archaeology, architecture, and history. To accommodate visitors, municipal facilities such as La Presó, La Nau Gaudí, and Torre Llauder will extend their operating hours and remain open during midday.
The initiative will culminate between November 20 and 22 with ‘A la llum de Gaudí’ (In the Light of Gaudí), an artistic project featuring light, sound, and technology installations at the five sites to celebrate the upcoming Gaudí Year 2026.
