Apple TV Announces ‘Matchbox The Movie’ Trailer and October Premiere

Apple TV+ unveiled the first trailer for Matchbox The Movie at San Diego Comic‑Con on July 25, 2026. The action‑comedy, inspired by Mattel’s iconic Matchbox toy cars, follows former soldier and undercover CIA operative Sean (John Cena) as he returns to his hometown and drags his childhood friends into a globe‑spanning chase to stop a nuclear threat.

The film is directed and executive‑produced by Sam Hargrave (known for Extraction) and written by David Coggeshall. It features an ensemble cast that includes Jessica Biel, Arturo Castro, Sam Richardson, Teyonah Parris, Danai Gurira, Golshifteh Farahani, Corey Stoll and Bill Camp. Production partners are Apple Original Films, Skydance Media and Mattel Studios, with filming locations that include Budapest, Slovakia and others. The movie will stream globally on Apple TV+ beginning October 9, 2026.
