Maïtena Biraben to succeed Nagui on France Inter’s morning show

After 12 years at the helm of "La Bande Originale", presenter Nagui announced his departure from France Inter’s daily cultural‑entertainment slot. The public broadcaster named veteran television host Maïtena Biraben as his replacement. Biraben, 58, will launch a new program on the 11 am‑12:30 pm slot beginning 24 August, taking over the established audience of the popular mid‑morning show.

The appointment was revealed on 29 June, with France Inter director Céline Pigalle praising Biraben’s “extraordinary, subtle and sensitive” profile. Biraben, known from her long stint at Canal+ and for speaking publicly about ADHD and autism, said the offer was “irrésistible” and expressed pride in joining the station.

While the format will differ from Nagui’s, retaining a panel of commentators and a mix of interviews, current regulars such as Florence Paracuellos and Benjamin Duhamel will remain on the morning schedule. Nagui’s exit is expected to be limited to this slot, with the possibility of occasional appearances in the future.
