Mater Natura and Creafro lead conservation and cultural initiatives in Brazil
Mater Natura has expanded its activities regarding biodiversity conservation and ecological restoration. A key highlight was the #VivaAConservação Seminar, held in Paranaguá, Paraná, which focused on strengthening conservation units along the coast. The event gathered 245 participants and 34 speakers to discuss governance, social participation, and the impacts of large-scale developments. The seminar resulted in the 'Carta do Seminário #VivaAConservação', outlining priorities for protected areas.
In Curitiba, the Afro Reference Center (Creafro) is conducting a month of cultural and racial literacy activities. The program includes capoeira workshops, discussions on racism and xenophobia in schools, and woodcut workshops featuring Adinkra symbols. The initiative also features the launch of the book 'Mora em Mim uma História' by Maisa Cardoso and a historical tour of Black presence in the city.
