Matera Conservatory hosts Flute in Progress concert

The Egidio Romualdo Duni Conservatory in Matera hosted the “Flute in Progress – The soloist and the flute orchestra” project as part of its 2025-2026 Chamber Music Season. Directed by Professor Alessandro Muolo, the ensemble consisted of students and faculty members performing on a variety of instruments, including C flutes, G flutes, bass flutes, and contrabass flutes.

The musical program spanned from 18th-century repertoire to contemporary works. Featured pieces included works by Jean-Philippe Rameau, Domenico Cimarosa, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Cécile Chaminade, and Gabriel Fauré. The performance also integrated electronic support curated by Chiara Lombardi D’Errico.

A highlight of the evening was the absolute world premiere of “Breaking Notes” by Giuseppe Salatino, a composition for news voices and a flute ensemble.
