Matera Festival presents 'Cinematic Piano' concert by Angelo Nigro

The Matera Festival – Museo in Sinfonia will host a special concert titled “Cinematic Piano” on 31 July 2026 at the former San Rocco Hospital in Matera. Pianist and composer Angelo Nigro, who created the project, will perform alongside the Vertere String Quartet and the ICO Magna Grecia Orchestra. The program re‑imagines contemporary film scores for piano and strings, featuring arrangements of works by Hans Zimmer, Max Richter, Jóhann Jóhannsson and others, as well as original pieces by Nigro.

The concert aims to evoke cinematic atmospheres through minimalist‑inspired music, combining sound‑design excerpts and famous film monologues to create an immersive “sonic storytelling” experience for the audience.
