Matera officials restore two-way traffic on Via Taranto
The Matera municipal administration has reached an agreement with the Via Taranto Residents' Committee to restore two-way traffic on the upper section of the road. This decision follows protests and concerns raised by over 400 families regarding the difficulties caused by a previous experimental one-way traffic regulation.
To balance resident needs with road safety, officials will install rubber parking deterrents near two parking areas on a curved section of the street. These deterrents are intended to prevent vehicles from parking in sensitive spots, ensuring smooth passage for cars traveling in both directions.
Benedetta Tralli, representative of the Residents' Committee, expressed satisfaction with the outcome, noting that the solution addresses daily mobility difficulties and reduces the environmental impact caused by traffic congestion.
