Matera to hold funeral for lawyer Angela Buccico following fatal plane crash

The city of Matera is preparing to hold funeral services for Angela Buccico, a 55-year-old lawyer, following a fatal ultralight aircraft accident in Calabria. The service is scheduled for Tuesday, August 25, at 9:30 AM in the Sanctuary of San Francesco di Paola.

Buccico was traveling in a Tecnam P2008 aircraft piloted by 64-year-old Roman lawyer Carlo Arnulfo. The flight departed from Capo d’Orlando, Sicily, and was en route to Sibari, Calabria, when the aircraft crashed in the Laghicello area near Fuscaldo. Autopsies conducted at the Germaneto Polyclinic in Catanzaro confirmed that both victims died instantly upon impact.

Angela Buccico is a prominent member of a well-known Materan family; she is the daughter of former mayor and senator Nicola Buccico and the sister of Rocco Buccico, the current deputy mayor and environmental councilor of Matera.
