Maternity and infant care services expand in Brazil
Maternity and infant care services are seeing developments in Brazil. In Parauapebas, the Hospital Geral de Parauapebas (HGP) held the ‘Bebê Prefeito 2026’ ceremony as part of the Municipal Baby Week. The event, which included the symbolic presentation of the city key to a newborn, aims to highlight the municipality's commitment to early childhood development and maternal care. HGP has recorded nearly 5,000 births between January 2025 and July 2026.
In Penedo, the Santa Casa de Misericórdia is expanding its maternity unit. The improvements include the addition of new wards, increased bed capacity, and the installation of new seating for companions. These structural investments are intended to provide more comfort and humanized care for pregnant women and their families in the Baixo São Francisco region.
