Mateus Isaac begins training in Weymouth for IQFoil World Championship
Brazilian Pan-American sailing champion Mateus Isaac has arrived in Weymouth, England, to begin training for the 2026 IQFoil World Championship. The competition is scheduled to take place in early September.
Isaac, a member of the Instituto Bons Ventos LA2028 Olympic Team, is working alongside coach Ricardo Paranhos to familiarize himself with the venue, which previously hosted sailing events for the 2012 London Olympics. The training focuses on adapting to the specific conditions of the Weymouth waters, which vary significantly depending on whether races are held inside or outside the port. Racing inside the port offers calmer seas and more variable wind directions, while racing in the open area introduces more significant swell and current factors.
Isaac is conducting his preparation in August to gain experience on the course alongside other international competitors. He is scheduled to return to Weymouth on August 25 for a final training block prior to the championship.
