Mateus Solano debuts monologue 'O Figurante' in Maceió and Recife

Brazilian actor Mateus Solano presents his first solo monologue, "O Figurante," a dram‑com that explores the life of a background artist questioning his place in the world. The show arrives in Maceió on 27 September at Teatro Gustavo Leite and will be staged in Recife at Teatro Luiz Mendonça, Parque Dona Lindu on 31 July, 1 August and 2 August.

The production, directed by Miguel Thiré with dramaturgy by Solano and Isabel Teixeira, has already toured 50 cities in Brazil and Portugal, drawing more than 200 000 audience members. Tickets start at R$ 80. The piece follows the character Augusto, a audiovisual professional struggling to find meaning and agency.

"O Figurante" reflects on the difficulty of connecting with one’s own essence and the challenge of taking control of one’s narrative, with Solano delivering the performance through a blend of spoken word, mime and physical expression.
