Mateusz Gamrot declines fight against Brian Ortega

Polish MMA fighter Mateusz Gamrot has declined a proposal to fight Brian Ortega, who recently moved from the featherweight to the lightweight division. Although Gamrot has long considered a matchup with Ortega a dream fight, he decided against a quick return to the octagon due to health concerns.

Speaking on OKTAGON LIVE, Gamrot explained that several physical stressors, including recent bouts, weight-cutting difficulties, and injuries to his nose and knee, made a rapid return to competition too risky. He emphasized that he prefers to approach future opportunities with proper preparation rather than rushing into training under such circumstances. Gamrot noted that he has not closed the door on the matchup and would be willing to reconsider if a suitable offer arises in the future.
