Mateusz Gessler and Magda Gessler not closely related despite shared surname

Public speculation often linked television chef Magda Gessler with fellow restaurateur Mateusz Gessler as mother and son because they share the Gessler surname and both appear on Polish culinary programs. Both have repeatedly denied a close blood relationship.

Mateusz Gessler is the son of Adam Gessler, who was once Magda Gessler’s brother‑in‑law—Magda was married to Piotr Gessler, Adam’s brother. After Magda’s marriage ended, no biological ties remained between her and Mateusz. Mateusz was raised largely by his mother’s partner Patrice after limited contact with his father, and he has described a strained and now broken relationship with Adam Gessler.
