Mateusz Morawiecki proposes new units to combat immigration

Former Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki has announced plans to establish new specialized units and plenipotentiaries to verify and combat uncontrolled immigration.

Critics argue that these proposed structures are unnecessary, noting that existing institutions, such as the Foreigners' Affairs Departments within Voivodeship Offices and units within the Border Guard and the Ministry of the Interior and Administration, already possess the legal competence to manage immigration and enforce laws. Opponents suggest that rather than creating new administrative layers, the focus should be on strengthening and funding existing state apparatuses that have faced systemic gaps and heavy workloads during previous administrations.
