Mateusz Tonder wins Paweł Waloszek Memorial in Świętochłowice
Mateusz Tonder won the Paweł Waloszek Memorial and the Open International Silesian Championship in Świętochłowice. The victory was decided in a run-off against Dawid Rempała.
The event, held at the renovated Paweł Waloszek Stadium, commemorated the legendary Silesian rider. The competition featured 16 riders and was marked by significant organizational controversy when the Polish Motor Association (PZM) barred Swedish riders Jonathan Ejnermark and Avon van Dyck from competing due to procedural and insurance issues, despite Swedish federation support.
The tournament was also characterized by several dangerous accidents. Rune Thorst suffered an injury following a collision, and junior rider Jakub Breński was taken from the track on a stretcher after a heavy fall. However, the club Śląsk Świętochłowice later reported that Breński avoided serious injury and suffered only bruises.
