Mathematics Olympiads draw significant participation in Chile

The University of Bío-Bío (UBB) hosted the 15th Inter-school Mathematics Olympiad, which saw a record-breaking 2,523 students participate. Representing 82 educational institutions across the Maule, Ñuble, Biobío, and Araucanía regions, the event marks a significant increase from the previous year, which had 1,700 participants from 57 schools.

Separately, two students from the Magallanes region have qualified for the national final of the 38th Mathematics Olympiad organized by the Mathematical Society of Chile (Somachi). Joaquín Penén Arce from Colegio Alemán de Punta Arenas and Emilia Cáceres Pennacchiotti from Colegio Punta Arenas will represent their region in the competition held in Santiago from October 21 to 24.
