Mathematics Olympiads engage students in Latin America and Mexico

Students across Latin America and the Caribbean are participating in the Matific Mathematics Olympics, an online educational competition held from September 28 to October 2. Aimed at students aged 4 to 15, the event uses gamification and artificial intelligence to teach mathematics through play, allowing participants to progress at their own pace. The competition offers institutional prizes for the top three schools and individual recognition for students who meet specific objectives.

In a separate achievement, the Mexican national team secured second place at the 41st Iberoamerican Mathematics Olympiad held in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Mexico's performance placed them ahead of Spain and behind Brazil in a field of 21 countries. Mario Delgado, the Secretary of Public Education, met with the students to recognize their discipline and talent, noting that while technology facilitates tasks, it is vital to maintain autonomous problem-solving skills.
