Mathematics seminar explores Hadamard products and Bergman fans
Dr. Sean Dewar from KU Leuven will present a seminar on October 28, 2026, regarding the applications of the Hadamard product in mathematics. The presentation will focus on a new method for counting points within a generic fibre of the Hadamard product of linear spaces.
This method utilizes Bergman fans, which are tropical linear representations of matroids. Dr. Dewar will demonstrate how the stable intersection of a Bergman fan and its flip—a concept termed the ‘flip product of matroids’—describes the number of points in a generic Hadamard product fibre. The research also extends to applications within the field of rigidity theory.
