Matheus Henrique de Oliveira Domingos sentenced to 17 years for murder
Matheus Henrique de Oliveira Domingos has been sentenced to 17 years in closed prison for the murder of Kamylla Scarllet Fernandes Cristaldo in Campo Grande, Brazil. The conviction follows a trial regarding a shooting that occurred in September 2024.
Prosecutors argued that the motive for the attack was “ego and jealousy” stemming from the victim's friendship with the defendant's girlfriend. Kamylla was shot in the neck and survived for three months in the hospital before passing away in December 2024. While hospitalized, she identified Matheus as the shooter.
During the trial, the defendant denied any involvement, claiming he only had a disagreement with the victim regarding her living situation. However, the prosecution dismissed these claims as a “lie” and characterized the defendant as a “cowardly killer of women.” The sentence was issued by Judge Aluizio Pereira dos Santos of the 2nd Jury Court of Campo Grande.
