Mathews Phosa criticizes ANC over corruption and justice failures

Mathews Phosa, an ANC veteran and former Mpumalanga Premier, has issued a blunt critique of the African National Congress, stating the party has failed South Africans regarding justice and corruption.

Speaking on the Frank Dialogue podcast, Phosa admitted the movement failed to deliver justice for victims of apartheid-era atrocities, specifically referencing over 300 unprosecuted cases stemming from the Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC) hearings. He noted that the party failed to pursue fairness for families of those who were killed or brutalized.

Phosa also addressed the impact of pervasive corruption on the party's credibility and argued that the ANC must undergo radical internal restructuring, including the complete dissolution of its compromised branch structures, to ensure its political survival.
