Mathieu van der Poel takes golf break in Scotland

Professional cyclist Mathieu van der Poel has been seen playing golf near Loch Lomond in Scotland as a way to unwind following a disappointing performance at the Mountain Bike World Championships in Val di Sole, Italy. After failing to secure a top position and finishing just outside the top 30, the Dutch rider has turned to his passion for golf to relax.

Van der Poel is now shifting his focus toward the upcoming UCI Road World Championships in Montréal, Canada, where he will lead the Dutch national team. Rather than participating in the Canadian GP series in Québec and Montréal, he has opted for a preparation strategy similar to his 2024 campaign, which includes competing in the Tour of Luxembourg to build momentum for the world championships.
